Are You Ready to Travel Yet?

So many of us are out of practice with traveling. Deciding if we’re prepared to travel or not counts as our first big step before diving back in.

It’s kind of like figuring out if we’re ready to jump headfirst into the deep end of the pool. Or if it might be a little less daunting to dip our toes in the shallow end first.

We touched on the decision-making process when going over our 5 Tips on Flying During COVID. However, the ultimate test for whether or not you’re ready to travel will be how safe YOU feel traveling.

Airlines are undoubtedly eager to get back to business as usual. To make that a reality, they’ve taken steps to ensure their passengers remain safe and healthy.

In a similar vein, some restaurants and attractions have put caps on the number of reservations they’re taking at once. That makes this one of the best times to travel and enjoy fantastic dining options and activities with smaller crowds in attendance.

Gearing up to travel to some of the best flight destinations amid COVID? The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) provides recommendations and best practices for ensuring your health during travel. To prevent infection and spread, the CDC recommends wearing an appropriate protective mask.

How to Decide if You’re Ready to Fly During COVID-19

The pros and cons of flying, and travel in general, will differ for each individual. Ultimately, it’s up to you to decide if traveling is a good idea right now.

If you want to travel, here are some things you can do to make sure you’re ready to hop on that next flight:

  • Assess your level of risk
    • Are you fully vaccinated or unvaccinated? Do you or anyone living in your household have pre-existing conditions that increase the risk of severe illness from COVID-19?
  • Determine your comfort level with different forms of travel
    • Flying nonstop, flying with layovers, traveling by bus or train. If you’re not ready to fly, you may still be able to travel while minimizing contact with others. Consider taking a road trip to some amazing domestic locales instead!

Once you’ve answered these questions for yourself and your family, you’ll have a better idea if you want to travel just yet. On the other hand, you may decide that waiting a few more months is best for your safety and comfort.

Whenever you’re ready, the world will still be waiting for you!

Those safety precautions are one of the reasons Hawaii has always been one of the best flight destinations during COVID. Now, with COVID numbers finally easing, many of the islands’ restrictions have eased as well.

St. Thomas

St. Thomas is the epicenter of most tourism to the islands and your entry port to the island getaway experience. Here, you’ll find a historic downtown, home to local-history museums like Fort Christian and the watchtower built to protect it known as Blackbeard’s Castle. In addition, opportunities abound to shop, dine on local cuisine, and enjoy the turquoise waters along St. Thomas’ beautiful white sand beaches.

Because of the significant tourism draw, most of the islands’ big resorts make their home here. However, that shouldn’t stop you from hopping on over for a visit to St. Croix via the easily accessible inter-island air and ferry services.

St. Croix

St. Croix is the largest island and far quieter than its sister isles. So, if you’re looking for a peaceful escape, St. Croix is one of the best flight destinations you could ask for amid the trials of COVID.

Here, you can explore the islands’ colorful pasts, shaped by several nations around the globe. Those nations include France, Spain, the Netherlands, Great Britain, Denmark, the Knights of Malta, and the United States.

This city boasts something for everyone, no matter your taste. That kind of ability to please, plus its close proximity, is what elevates it to the mantel of best flight destinations, especially during COVID.

And speaking of taste, you can’t go to Mexico without experiencing the local cuisine. Grab a bite from a vendor in the city, then hop on over to el Parque las Palapas. It’s the perfect way to enjoy the sights and sounds of Cancun like the locals do.
